Pannenberg, Wolfhart

(b. 1928)

   Theologian.

   Pannenberg was born in Stettin, Germany, and he was educated at the Universities of Berlin, Göttingen, Basle (where he studied with Karl barth) and Heidelberg. Subsequently he has taught at Wuppertal, Mainz and Munich. He is the author of several important books, including (in their English titles) Jesus – God and Man, Theology and the Philosophy of Science, Anthropology and a multi-volume systematic theology. He is notable for his determination to integrate theology with other disciplines and, in contrast to Barth, he insists that God has revealed himself in and through the course of human history.
